I was born in Rutland, Vermont, in1936 and grew up and attended public
schools in Essex Junction, Vermont. I have degrees from Northwestern,
Oxford, and Princeton Universities, and have taught at Princeton, Windham
College, and Western New England College. Other jobs: college dean; real
estate appraiser and broker. Summer jobs in student years: commercial
salmon fisherman, plumber, store clerk, farmhand. A lifelong scribbler,
I now live in Dummerston, Vermont, with my wife Eleanor.
